Lois M. Wickus

July 31, 1928 ~ April 19, 2020 (age 91)


Lois M. Wickus, 91 passed away into Jesus’s arms on Sunday, April 19, 2020 at Park Ridge Assisted Living in Marquardt Village in Watertown where she has resided for the last 4 and a half years. She was born on July 31, 1928 the daughter of Fred and Gertrude (Moll) Loeffler. She attended St. John’s Lutheran School and graduated from Watertown High School. She was employed at Mid-State Shoe Factory and  F.W. Woolworth in Watertown. She married her husband Lloyd Wickus at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Watertown on May 29, 1949. They made their life of 60 years together in Watertown. Together they were founding members of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. They volunteered at the Watertown Food Pantry. They had a love for travel. They visited destinations in Europe, the Caribbean, the Holy Land, and most of the United States including Alaska and Hawaii. They especially liked to spend time in Florida during winter. Lois loved to garden and always had beautiful flowers, especially her roses.

Lois will be deeply missed by her family and is survived by one daughter Lori (Wickus) Reichert and son-in-law Richard Reichert of Watertown. She has one granddaughter Nicole (Reichert) Schwager and her husband Jacob Schwager of Watertown and one grandson Joshua Reichert and his wife Abby (Kuehl) Reichert of Lebanon. She has 7 great-grandchildren Tessa, Tenly, and Delaney Schwager, Carter Callen, Cooper, and Cameron Reichert. She has one niece Nancy (Witz) Pickard in Georgia. She also has dear friends of many years.

She is preceded by her husband on August 24, 2009. Also preceding her in death were her parents, parents-in-law Warren and Emma (Puttkamer) Wickus, her sister-in-law Blanche (Wickus) Witz and brother-in-law Stan Witz.

A private family funeral service for Lois will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2020 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church with Rev David Groth presiding. Burial will follow the service at Lutheran Cemetery in Watertown at 11:45am.

Memorials in Lois’ honor to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church would be appreciated.

The family would like to thank the staff at Park Ridge and Marquardt Hospice for the loving care they gave to Lois during her stay.
