Henry Gottschalk, 91, passed away peacefully November 16, 2019 at Meriter Hospital in Madison. He was born July 29, 1928 in the town of Portland to Arthur and Helen (Hahn) Gottschalk. He was married to June Winkler on March 22, 1953 at the Waterloo United Methodist Church. They were together 66 years, until June passed away October 6th 2019.
Henry served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955. He worked for various construction companies throughout south central Wisconsin as an operating engineer. He was a proud union member and Democrat.
He was a loving and caring father and husband. He had a friendly, quiet, and gentle soul. In retirement he enjoyed spending time with his family and canine best friends. He loved tinkering with machines and could fix anything.
Henry is survived by his daughter Debra Gottschalk, son-in-law Peter Mueller, sister Lois Andersen and brother-in-law Robert Andersen.
He was preceded in death by his wife June, son Dean, parents Arthur and Helen, and sister Arlene Gassen.
A Graveside service with full Military Honors for Henry will be held at 11:00am on Monday, November 25, 2019 at Washington Cemetery in the Town of Portland with Rev. Heide Loomis presiding.
