Wayne Essmann

April 2, 1937 — May 31, 2015

The Lord called Wayne Essmann to his home in heaven on May 31, 2015. He was born in Lewiston, Minnesota on April 2, 1937, the son of Alvin and Sadie (Rusert) Essmann. He was baptized and confirmed in St. John Lutheran Church in Lewiston. He attended St. John Lutheran School for the first eight years of his education and then attended Lewiston High School where he graduated.
He served in the United States Navy from Oct. 1955-Aug 1957 with the Korean Theatre when he was honorably discharged. Living in Rochester, Minnesota he moved with his family to Waterloo, Wisconsin and then to Marshall, Wisconsin where he lived the remainder of his life.
Wayne was retired from Perry Printing and had worked several years for Sun Prairie Pick-N-Save and later at Copps. A high light for 20 years was an annual fishing trip with his special group of friends.
He played home talent baseball for many years both in Waterloo and in Minnesota. He was a member of both the Waterloo Legion and V.F.W.
On October 19, 1985 he was united in marriage to Sharon TImpel in St. John Lutheran Church in Waterloo. He is survived by Sharon, his wife of 30 years and by his children, one son Dale (Tami) as well as two daughters, Brenda and Dawn (David Zoellick), step-children David Timpel, Dan (Kim) Timpel, Karen Timpel-Sozio, 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, two brothers, Rev. Harold (Ruth) Essmann and Lloyd Essmann and one brother-in-law Dean Kaump and Ardella Essmann, mother of his children.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Phyllis. A special thank you to granddaughter Jessica (Young at Heart).
Funeral services for Wayne will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at St. John Lutheran Church, 313 East Madison Street in Waterloo, Wisconsin with Rev. James Adomeit presiding. Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 9:30 -11:00. He will be buried in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery, Madison, Wisconsin.
