Wanda L. Scheidegger

October 31, 1933 — January 8, 2026

Waterloo

Wanda L. Scheidegger, 92 of Waterloo, passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison.

Wanda was born on October 31, 1933, on the family farm in the Town of Trenton, Dodge County, to Walter and Erna (Beier) Griepentrog. Wanda was a 1951 graduate of Horicon High School, and she attended many of the class reunions, the most recent one in September. Wanda married Nicholas “Nick” J. Scheidegger on January 19, 1952, and they were married for sixty-six years.

They moved to Waterloo and operated the Stoney Brook cheese factory before moving into the city. She worked for many years at Perry Printing Corporation and was usually the first one you talked to when you called. She started in the bindery division and finished as the executive secretary to the company President. During these busy years, she also raised her children and would give a helping hand to those in need. After retiring, she enjoyed golfing on Ladies Day at Columbus Country Club. She also had many laughs playing Sheepshead with the Thursday ladies’ group.

She was a lifelong sports fan, always waiting for the next game on tv. Her favorites were the Packers, Brewers, Badgers, and Bucks. She also enjoyed watching her children, grandchildren, and other relatives in their sports too!

Wanda loved her flowers and plants. She couldn’t wait for catalogs to arrive and visit greenhouses in the spring. She liked to have new rose bushes and loved the smell of freshly cut roses in the house. For many years, she had a garden and canned tomatoes, green beans, beets, and other vegetables.

Wanda was a wonderful cook who learned from the best, her mother! She was always trying new recipes and baking grand desserts. Many cakes, cookies, pies, and other goodies were enjoyed by all. She proudly contributed her unique baked beans to potlucks and freshly made dinner rolls to family gatherings.

She loved to sew and cross stitch before her vision made it too hard for her. Many of her projects are in her family’s homes.

Wanda was able to live at home until her passing thanks to numerous friends and family members who helped with lawn mowing, shoveling snow, raking leaves, delivering food, driving her to church and countless other tasks.

Wanda is survived by her children: John of Alexandria, Virginia, Tom (Judy) of Sun Prairie, and Christe (Brad) Solie of Columbus; grandchildren Katie, Jeffrey, Maggie (Steven), Calle (Matt), and Tyler; and great-granddaughter Brett. Also surviving is her sister, Lois Schmidt of Horicon, brother-in-law, Ray Kranz of Juneau, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Wanda is preceded in death by her parents, husband Nick, sisters-in-law Heidi Kranz and Trudy Leeds, and brother-in-law Delmar Schmidt.

Memorials in Wanda’s honor may be made to St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, Prader-Willi Syndrome Association of Wisconsin, or a charity of one’s choice.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 27th at 11:00 at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, Waterloo with the Rev. James Adomeit presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 until the time of service. There will be lunch to follow the service.

The family would like to thank the Waterloo EMS for their assistance, the Prairie Ridge Health ER staff, and the compassionate care of the nurses at St. Mary’s Hospital.
