Thomas "Tommy" Allen Ward, 72, of Reeseville, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 3, 2025.
Born on August 11, 1952 and raised on the family farm in Waterloo, WI, Tommy was a proud third-generation horse puller who began working with draft horses alongside his father at an early age. His deep-rooted passion for the sport became a defining part of his life, shaping his values of hard work and tradition. He graduated from Marshall High School in 1971 and remained living in the area throughout his years.
Known for being tough as nails and seemingly having more lives than a cat, Tommy lived life full throttle. He loved his family, his friends, and above all, his pulling horses. As he joins his father in horse-pulling heaven, the Ward pulling legacy lives on through his youngest brother, Doug, and his son, Todd. A highlight of Tommy's lifelong passion for the sport came when he was inducted into the Wisconsin Horse Pullers Hall of Fame—an honor he was proud to share with his father and grandfather.
Tommy is survived by his son Todd (Kate), grandchildren Kyle and Kayla, and great-granddaughter Kennedy. He is also survived by his siblings Linda (Bob) Wise, Daniel, David (Kendra), and Doug (Wendy) Ward; his dear friend Joanne; and many other close family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur “Bud” and June Ward; his brother Dennis; and his sister Paula Jean.
A gathering of friends and family will take place from 4:00pm until 7:00pm on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at the Pederson-Nowatka Funeral Home in Waterloo. A time of sharing memories will start at 5:30pm on Thursday. Burial will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor his memory by attending a horse pull, telling a good story, or simply living life with the grit and heart Tommy always showed.
