Shirley Ann Kohl, 91, of Waterloo passed away on Monday, June 8, 2026. She passed peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by her children in her final days, knowing and feeling the depth of their love. Shirley was born on December 3, 1934, in Cazenovia, WI, the daughter of Oliver and Lois (Brimmer) Robertson. She married James Edward Kohl on October 4, 1952, and together they raised a large and loving family. She spent her life building a home filled with love, wisdom, and strength. Above all else, she was devoted to her family.
Shirley is survived by: children Sharon (Wayne) Petranek, Rhonda (David) Riesop, Joni (Mark Berg) Waddell, Laurel Kohl, Jeffrey (Shelley) Kohl, Michael (Lisa) Kohl, and Amy (Stephen) Graziano; grandchildren Lindsay, Jacob, Joshua, Jeremy, Seth, Zachary, Noelle, Sophia, Alexandra, Remington, Alexis, Andrew, Jackson, Cailey, Emma, Ashton, and Josie; great grandchildren Lauryn, Eleanor, Lukas, Gavin, Brynlee, Jhett, and Julianna; siblings Roger Robertson, Lois (Richard) Wedeward, Lenore Meitner, John (Jayne) Robertson, and Lynn (Karen) Robertson; and sisters-in-law Rose (Tom) Wedeward and Vicki Robertson. Shirley is also survived by many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and wonderful neighbors. She was preceded in death by her husband James, daughter Catherine, parents Oliver and Lois Robertson, siblings Phyllis Schneider, Bob Robertson, Wilbur Robertson, Raymond Robertson, Rose Fritch, Deanna Klitzke, and Richard Robertson.
The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff of Agrace Hospice Care, especially Nurse Melissa. They provided such compassionate care in the last days of her life. In lieu of flowers, donations in Shirley’s name may be made to Agrace.
In honoring Shirley’s wishes, private funeral services for the family will be held. A Celebration of Life is being planned by the family for a later date.
