Ruth Farland

March 25, 1928 — March 27, 2015

Ruth M. McFarland, 87 of Watertown, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2015 at Golden Living Center of Watertown with her children by her side.
Ruth was born on March 25, 1928 in Watertown, WI the daughter of Joseph and Gladyce Nistler. On May 13, 1947, Ruth married Robert McFarland at St. Henry Catholic Church of Watertown. Robert and Ruth lived and raised 7 children on the family farm in the Town of Sheilds. Ruth was an active parishioner of St. Bernard's Catholic Church and was involved in the Catholic Women's Club, the Knights of Columbus, Eucharist Ministry, Bingo Board, Watertown Badgers 4H Club, Dodge County Homemakers, County Shield Election Board, and Meals on Wheels. She was devoted Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother. Her faith in God's plan was unshaken and she was at peace her entire life, even to the end. Ruth was the perfect matriarch. Her children and grandchildren cherished times spent in her vast garden where life-lessons were watered along with the vegetables. She was an extremely diligent worker and a true servant, always putting others before herself. She had an ability to make each of her 7 children feel like they were her "favorite". She was an exceptional cook and could feed the masses with whatever was in her refrigerator. She was passionate about her family and lived as an example of a Godly mother. In the end, she achieved her goal - to be with her Heavenly Father and her Loving Husband.
She is survived by: her 7 Children Rose (Jack) Erdman, Jean (George) Anderson, Mary (Glenn) Zwieg, Ron (Nancy) McFarland, Ellen Suhr, Fran (Patti) McFarland, and Richard (Michele) McFarland; 28 Grandchildren, and 35 Great-Grandchildren; Sister Lois (Brent) Schmidt; In-Laws Edward (Donna) McFarland and George (Mary) McFarland, and Helen Nistler. Ruth is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She is preceded in death by: her Husband Robert, Parents Joe and Gladyce Nistler, Brother Paul Nistler, In-Laws Ray and Lorretta McFarland, Sons-in-Law Pat Schauer and Roger Suhr, and Great-Granddaughter Olivia Kletsch.
Memorials in Ruth's honor to the Watertown Catholic Youth Center would be appreciated.
