Ruth E. Yerges, 79, of Waterloo, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, June 6, 2025, at her home.
Ruth was born on November 6, 1945, in Watertown, the daughter of Edgar and Irma (Hesse) Strauss. She married Robert Yerges on August 15, 1964, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Ixonia, and the couple enjoyed 46 years of marriage before his passing in 2011. She worked at Perry Printing for over 30 years while simultaneously farming with her husband and raising four active children. Ruth was a 4-H Leader, a member of the WSRA Car Club, and member of the local chapter of GCIU at Perry Printing for many years. In her free time, she enjoyed fishing, gardening, reading, nature, working on puzzles and word games, and attending car shows. Above all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Ruth is survived by her children Alan (Cathy) Maslowski-Yerges, Paul (Jodi) Yerges, Teri (Steve) Gunn, Greg (Jana) Yerges, 15 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, sister Linda Milbradt, brother Wally (Carol) Strauss, and sister Lynne Schottey. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister Irene Biefeld and precious in-laws.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at St. John Lutheran Church in Waterloo with Rev. James Adomeit presiding. Visitation will take place at the church from 9:00am until the time of service. Burial will follow the service at Washington Cemetery in the Town of Portland. Per Ruth’s request, she demands that NO ties be worn to the service, casual attire only please.
Memorials in Ruth’s name may be made to St. John’s Tuition Fund or Rainbow Hospice.
