Robert R. “Bob” Dunneisen, 90 of Marshall, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at his home in Marshall.
Bob was born on December 22, 1935, at his family home in Arlington, the son of Fred and Freida (Zenger) Dunneisen. Bob moved to Waterloo when he was about 5 years old with his parents and siblings Fritz, Hans, and Gertrude. In October of 1954, Bob enlisted in the United States Army, and he served time in Korea before being discharged in 1962. Following his service, Bob attended MATC for classes in mechanics and later worked as a mechanic for Gehler/Stokes Motors and as a machinist for Perry Printing. On October 25, 1958, Bob was united in marriage with Mary Lou Skattum, and the couple was blessed with two children, Jon and Lisa. Bob and Mary Lou lived in Waterloo for most of their life and moved to Marshall in the last 8 years. In his free time, Bob enjoyed being outside in his garden or out on the golf course with Mary Lou. He was able to repair almost anything and enjoyed doing so.
Bob is survived by his loving wife Mary Lou, children Jon and Lisa (Perry), five grandchildren, and two great-granddaughters.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Fritz (Betty) Dunneisen and Hans (Bernice) Dunneisen, and sister Gertrude (Harve) Yelk.
A graveside service with Military Honors will be held at 1:00 PM on Sunday, May 31, 2026, at Washington Cemetery in Town of Portland with Pastor Robert Moberg presiding. A reception will follow the burial at Legion Hall 233 in Waterloo.
