Riley J. Norenberg

Riley J. Norenberg, of Watertown, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2026.

Riley was born on September 15th, 2005, the son of Steve and Traci (Staude) Norenberg. He was a 2024 graduate of Lakeside Lutheran High School. Riley served faithfully in the Army Reserves, something that he had wanted to do since he was a child. Riley was pursuing a career in law enforcement and attending classes for a degree in criminal justice. His life was driven by the deep desire to serve and protect those around him at any cost. Riley was an animal lover and never met a furry friend he didn’t like. When he wasn’t busy with his career or working out at the gym, Riley had a gift for making people smile. His larger-than-life sense of humor left his family laughing until they cried during the game nights that Riley was known to ‘force’ everyone to be a part of. Riley liked music and entertainment and also liked to sing and dance. Riley cherished his family, friends, and loved ones. The time he spent with his friends was a valuable part of his life and identity, whether it be time spent at the gym, gaming, or just hanging out and catching up. Spending time with his parents, siblings, and niece Evangeline were of utmost importance to him. He will be remembered for his bright smile, heart of service, and all the love that he poured onto those around him. Riley was able to make connections with anyone he met, of any age, and always left a strong impression. Riley shared an indescribable bond with his twin sister Molly. Even when they were given the twin test challenge, they were in sync with every word, thought and action. He protected her and looked out for her always, the sibling’s love and bond was beautifully unconditional and will live on eternally.

Riley is survived by his parents Steve and Traci; twin sister Molly and sister Jordan (Scott) Donovan; niece Evangeline Donovan; maternal grandparents David and Carol Staude; paternal grandparents Joanne “Jody” and Roger Norenberg; and significant other Eleah Castro. Riley is also survived by a number of other relatives and many close friends.

Riley is preceded in death by his great-grandparents Beverly “Nana” and Joseph “Big Boppa” Coleman, Hubert and Violet Staude, Vera Borgrud, Merlin “Cappy” and Bernice Norenberg.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 14, 2026, at the Schmutzler-Vick Funeral Home with the Rev. Thomas Schultz presiding. Visitation will be held on Thursday August 13, 2026, from 4-7 PM at the Schmutzler-Vick Funeral home and on Friday from 10 AM until the time of the service. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens in Beaver Dam.
