Richard Fuchs

July 5, 1930 — April 1, 2017

Richard Joseph Fuchs, Sr. 86, of Melrose passed away on April 1, 2017.
Richard was born on July 5, 1930 in Watertown to Walter and Helen (Kellenberger) Fuchs during the Great Depression. He graduated from St. John's Grade School and Watertown High School, he later attended MATC. Richard served his country for four years in the Air Force during the Korean War. In 1951 he married Alice "Ali" Ebert and later had four children, Rick Jr., Jim, Renee and Nancy. Instead of retiring he and his wife started a saw sharpening business for 12 years. He loved being around people and started a tap dance class and entertained all over Dodge and Jefferson counties. Watertown High School seniors wanted to learn all the old time dances, so he taught Polkas, Waltzes, Samba, Jitter Bug, Chicken and many more. Richard enjoyed bowling and later in life he enjoyed golf. He loved to fly small planes but couldn't afford to buy one, so he purchased a kit and started to build two junior aces. He built a Junior Ace and a Cassutt and yes they all had to be inspected before you could fly them.
Survivors include: children Rick Jr., Jim, Renee and Nancy; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren and a brother David. He is also survived by a number of other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM on Thursday April 6, 2017 at the Pederson-Nowatka Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Kral from Christ United Methodist Church presiding. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Burial with military rites will be held at Glenview Memorial Gardens Ixonia.
