Richard B. Ellis

Richard B. Ellis, 77 of Lake Mills, passed away on Monday, September 28, 2026, at Timberwood Lodge of Lake Mills.

Richard was born on November 16, 1948, in Campbellsport, WI, the son of L. Gordon and Ruth (Johnson) Ellis. Richard was the youngest of five siblings and grew up in the Waterloo area. His father owned and operated Dean’s butcher shop for many years. Richard worked at Trek and was the proud winner of a contest that earned him his own Trek bicycle. For many years, he delivered the Milwaukee Journal to businesses and residential areas within Waterloo on his bicycle. Richard enjoyed biking all over the city and was well known within the community. If there was ever a fire call, he would bike to the station to see what was going on and everyone enjoyed talking to him. He was an avid Brewers fan and also liked the Green Bay Packers. When he wasn’t out biking or delivering newspapers, Richard could often be found fishing or spending time with family. He was easy going and had a heart of gold.

Richard is survived by his sister Jeanette Madonna, and nieces and nephews James (Lela), Erin (Robert), Joe (Sue), Joanne (Tom), Matt (Mary Jo), Mike (Kathryn), Kirsten (David), Eric (Christine), Megan (Tyrone), Adam (Deb), and Ryan (Amanda). Richard is also survived by 18 great nieces and nephews, 8 step-great nieces and nephews, 2 great-great nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at the Pederson-Nowatka Funeral Home in Waterloo with Rev. Martina Stanton presiding. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home. Richard will be laid to rest next to his family at Oak Hill Cemetery of Waterloo following the service.
