Rev. Dr. Charles R. Sanders

Rev. Dr. Charles R. Sanders, 92, of Lake Mills, WI, passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at The LakeHouse in Lake Mills.

Charles was born on February 19, 1932, in Menomonie, WI, the son of Henry and Carel (Jensen) Sanders. He married the love of his life Darleen Osgood on October 25, 1952, in St. Cloud, MN and later passed away on March 11, 2017. He was ordained at the Amy Chapel on May 8, 1954. On May 30, 1970, he received a Doctor of Divinity from Maranatha Baptist Bible College. He attended Bible College in St. Paul, Minnesota. Charles was a pastor in Rock Falls, WI, the first pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Watertown, WI, from 1960-1972, the pastor of Highland Baptist Church in Boulder, CO from 1972-1976, and he traveled as a itinerate Evangelist based in Colorado from 1976-2019, and he also led 17 tours to the Holy Land. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing, hunting, but above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family,

“It was at the age of 12, when I was working for my room and board, when a lady invited me to a tent meeting where I accepted the Lord as my Savior.”

 He was a tremendous soul-winner, man of faith, a pioneer who welcomed Maranatha Baptist Bible College to Watertown. He started the “Moments at Calvary’ radio broadcast. He established the Calvary Baptist Christian School. Charles walked humbly with God. We are thankful for his ministry and will miss him deeply. “Well done thou good and faithful servant!”

He is survived by: children; Carel (Brex) Wollin, David (Sun) Sanders, Bruce (Darlene) Sanders, Barry (Mona) Sanders, Joy (Brian) Schaffer; grandchildren Jennifer (Mike) Hull, Brex (Amy) Wollin Jr., Jackie Farrell, Linda (John) Wilson, Sharon (David) Hegranes, Tabitha (Robert) Hoffmann, Jonathan (Haley) Sanders, Melanie (Philip) Vigil, Heather (Raleigh) Fisher, Joe (Leanne) Sanders, Corie (Mike) Childers, Amber (Dan) Ells, Tyler (Megan) Schaffer, Sabrina (Josh) Pannell; 42 great-grandchildren; six great great-grandchildren; and he is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers and three sisters.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 AM on July 25, 2024, at the Darrell Howe Mortuary in Lafayette, CO. The service will be livestreamed at  www.darrellhowemortuary.com. 

Memorials may be made to Timothy Scholarship – 2T22 of Maranatha or First Baptist Church of Lafayette, CO, where Charles was a member.
