Phyllis Motl

Phyllis A. Motl, 91 of Marshall (formally of Waterloo) passed away on Friday, March 11, 2016 at Sun Prairie Health Care Center surrounded by her loving family.
Phyllis was born on April 11, 1924 in Lake Mills, WI, the daughter of William and Anna (Jorzig) Behm. She was a 1941 graduate of Lake Mills High School and attended Milwaukee Area Technical College. On October 17, 1942, Phyllis married Joseph J. Motl at St. Joseph's Catholic Church of Waterloo. The couple raised 2 daughter and 2 sons and enjoyed 57 years of marriage until Joseph's death in April of 2000. She was employed at the Central Wisconsin Center of Madison as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant from 1961 until her retirement in 1983. Phyllis was a life-long and active member of Holy Family Parish - Waterloo Campus (formally St. Joseph's) and was a faithful member of the Altar Sodality. She enjoyed participating in quilting club and serving with St. Vincent DePaul and the Food Pantry, both of Waterloo. Phyllis was a lady who was almost always at peace. She was easygoing and rarely worried. Her positive attitude was uplifting and she had a true servant's heart. It was her tradition to make oyster stew around the holidays and she loved to share the famous butterhorns. She will be missed by many.
Phyllis is survived by: her Children Barbara (Don) Pache of Marshall, Annette (Richard) Kiesow of Windsor, Richard (Rhonda) Motl of Waterloo, and Michael (Wendy) Motl of McFarland; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a number nieces, nephew, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by: her parents, Husband Joseph, Sisters Margaret and Lila, and Brothers Elmer and Harvey.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Sun Prairie Care Center.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00AM on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at Holy Family Parish - Waterloo Campus with Fr. Jorge Miramontes presiding. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 9:00AM until the time of service at the church. Burial will take place at St. Joe's Catholic Cemetery following the service.
