Paul E. Voegeli

December 27, 1937 — December 25, 2023

Watertown

Paul E. Voegeli, 85 of Township of Milford, passed away on Monday, December 25, 2023, at Aurora St. Luke's of Milwaukee.

Paul Edgar Voegeli was born December 27, 1937, in Watertown, the son of Emil and Julieanna Anna (Lohrberg) Voegeli. He attended Watertown High School and later served his country in the United States Air Force. Paul married Jeanne Baum in November of 1966, and the two shared 57 years together. They had 2 children, Matthew and Emmi, who they treasured.

Paul was a man of wonder and was fascinated by almost everything. He enjoyed working with his hands, especially tinkering with cars and other machines. Paul offered to build his son's first car for him, although, even in his teens, Matt questioned whether the vehicle would be street-legal. (Thankfully, that car was never built.) His talents were not limited to mechanical devices, however, as he also enjoyed the creative pursuits of writing, drawing, and painting. Paul could often be found scribbling small ideas on timecards, napkins, or whatever was within reach when the inspiration struck. When he wasn't in the garage working on whatever project tickled him at the moment, he enjoyed relaxing bike rides and even picked up kayaking. When it came to road trips, he always took the back roads as one never knew what interesting things one might find.

Paul was a known practical joker, something that ran large in his family. His quick wit often turned someone's small statement into a tall tale for everyone to hear. Despite enjoying his solitude, Paul's unusual and disarming sense of humor endeared him to those he encountered, and he never met someone that he couldn't talk to.

Paul is survived by: his wife Jeanne; and children Matthew Voegeli and Emmi Voegeli. Paul is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Paul is preceded in death by: his parents; and siblings Walter Voegeli, Raymond Voegeli, Alice Larson, Mary Hollihan, Lydia Fleming, Erika Schmidt, Rose Kottwitz, Hildegard Will, Doretta Voegeli, Elmer Voegeli, and Betty Blank.

A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, January 5, 2023, at the Pederson-Nowatka Funeral Home of Watertown. Visitation will be held from 10:30 AM until the time of service at the funeral home. Paul will be laid to rest at Lutheran Cemetery of Watertown following the service.
