Nancy “Nanc” Bissett, age 81, of Watertown, Wisconsin, passed away on March 26, 2026, at Samaritan Nursing and Rehab in West Bend.
Born on December 12, 1944, in Milwaukee, Nancy was raised in Mukwonago, where she spent her childhood on a small family farm. It was there that she developed her lifelong love of animals, a passion she inherited from her father. She graduated from Mukwonago Union High School in 1962. In the mid-1970’s she moved to Watertown and worked for 25 years at U.S. Chemical, later spending five years with Jonas Office Products.
Nancy loved all animals, especially dogs, and she was rarely without one by her side. Over the years, she became known in Watertown for her seven beloved Black Scottish Terriers. She often volunteered at the Watertown Humane Society and brought her Scottie, McTrevor, to local nursing homes, where he brought joy to residents.
Nancy had a special gift for making people feel cared for, often leaving thoughtful notes, small gifts, or little surprises for friends and family. She cherished her close circle of loyal, long-time friends, who meant the world to her. Supporting veterans was deeply important to her, and she proudly honored service members throughout her life in a heartfelt way.
One of Nancy’s greatest joys was spending time outside in her backyard on the patio with her Scotties, watching wildlife and enjoying the peace of nature. She especially loved mourning doves and found comfort in their presence.
Nancy is survived by her daughters, Lori (Jeff) Nackers and Dina (Scott) Miller; her grandchildren, Mollie (Brandon) Lamers, Allison (Jason) Miller, Nicholas (Kari) Miller, and Maxine (Eren) Miller; and her great-grandchildren, Harrison, Hope, and Jack.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made in Nancy’s name to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Watertown, or the Watertown Humane Society - organizations that reflect the causes closest to her heart.
