Mildred E. Hildebrandt, 96 of Watertown, passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at Park Terrace.
Mildred was born on October 7, 1928, in Chicago, the daughter of Albert and Gerda (Laas) Fischer. She was a 1946 graduate of Woodstock High School. On October 1, 1949, Mildred was united in marriage with Gene Hildebrandt in Woodstock, IL, and the couple shared over 65 years of marriage and were blessed with five children. They bought and moved to a farm in Wisconsin in 1960. The couple were faithful members of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Lebanon. Mildred was an active member of the Lutheran Women’s Mission League and the Sinissippi Settlers Homemakers. Mildred was a kind and compassionate woman who went out of her way to give to others, whether it was hosting picnics and dinners for friends and family or sending out birthday cards to keep in touch. Her best gift was the opportunity to care for her son Kevin who was one of her greatest joys in life. She gave her time as a volunteer at the Bethesda Gift Shop and participated in the Red Hatters group. Mildred and Gene did extensive traveling both in the United States and abroad, and Mildred was able to go to Germany to visit her parent’s homeland twice. Mildred led a life of faithful service to others that was an example to her family, and above all else she treasured her time with them.
