Matthew J. Nowatka, 23 of Princeton, died on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at his home.
He was born on February 28, 1992 in Ottawa, IL the son of Dennis and Melony (McDonald) Nowatka and Matthew R. Hancock. Matt attended LaSalle-Peru High School and earned his GED in 2009 at age 17. He met the love of his life, Jasmine Kunkel, at a concert in the fall of 2012 and the couple was blessed with a beautiful daughter on September 6, 2013. They named the baby Ariella Marie Nowatka. Matt adored his girls with vigor and would do anything for them. He had an infectious, sarcastic, loving personality and was loved by all he came in contact with. Matt was an avid sports fan, watching whatever college football team was on TV and following the Chicago Bulls closely. He enjoyed spending time fishing with his Dad and attending music events, especially the Summer Camp Music Festival in Chillicothe, IL. He will be deeply missed by many.
Matthew is survived by: the Loves of His Life Jasmine Kunkel and Daughter Ariella Nowatka of Princeton; his Parents Dennis and Melony (McDonald) Nowatka of Peru; Paternal Grandparents Richard and Sandy Nowatka of Peru, Paternal Grandmother Arlene Hancock of Oglesby, Maternal Grandparents Joe and Cindy (Myers) Jansen of Oglesby, Maternal Grandfather Mike McDonald of Granville, and Maternal Great-Grandmother Nadine (Joe) Morello of Marseilles. He is also survived by a number of other relatives and many friends.
He is preceded in death by: 2 great-grandfathers, a great-grandmother and a grandfather.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on at 11:00AM on Monday, November 2, 2015 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Peru with Msgr. J. Brian Rejcek presiding. Visitation will be on Sunday from 4:00PM-6:00PM at the Hurst Funeral Home of LaSalle-Peru, and Monday from 10:00AM until the time of service at the church. Matthew will be laid to rest at St. Vincent Catholic Cemetery in LaSalle following the services.
