Mary E. Thies

Mary E. Thies, 69, of Marshall, passed away on May 14, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Mary was born on December 29, 1954, in Columbus, WI, the daughter of Edmund and Elizabeth Truschinski. She married Siegfried Thies on June 6, 1980.

Mary was a stay-at-home mom to her five children. She also helped care for her nieces and nephews. She worked 23 years at Sienna Crest as a care giver. Besides caring for those around her, she loved thrifting with her family. She also loved traveling to horse shows with her daughter Maria, nieces Emily and Karen, and her sister Ann. Above all else, Mary loved her family and friends with all her heart and soul.

Mary is survived by her husband Siggi, daughter Maria (Steve Behm) Thies, sons Willie (Kaysie) Thies, Joseph, Peter, and daughter Sabina (Brad) Schack. 8 grandchildren: Sophie; Oliver; Cal; Adriana; Siggi; Willa; Michael; and Hendrick. Her brother Werner (Rita) Truschniski, sister Ann (Gary) Wilson, and her sister-in-law Diane Truschinski.  She is also survived by her beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Edmund and Elizabeth Truschinski, brother Willie Truschinski, mother-in-law Emilie Thies and father-in-law Helmut Thies.

A celebration of her life and all the love she shared will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at the Columbus Fireman’s Park Pavilion at 1049 Park Avenue, Columbus, WI. A visitation will be held from 10:00am until 12:00pm, followed by a small service provided by Jason McDonough. This will be followed by a lunch. You are encouraged to stay for her favorite German tradition of 3pm coffee and cake.
