Lois Adele (Moser) Harke, 101, of Watertown, died Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at The Marquardt Health Center.
Lois was born on May 24, 1924, in East Mauch Chunk (now Jim Thorpe), PA. She graduated from Moravian College for Women (now Moravian University), Bethlehem, PA, in 1945 with a B.S. degree in Medical Technology. She pursued her medical career briefly in Utica, NY, then later in Madison and Green Bay, WI, and Columbus, IN. Lois married Albert F. Harke on November 10, 1945, and together they served Moravian congregations in New York, Wisconsin, North Dakota, and Indiana. Over the years she enjoyed baking, needlework of various kinds, and a love of music, having a beautiful soprano voice. Her devotion to the Moravian Church was demonstrated by the many ways in which she served, including leading countless women's Bible study groups, directing children's choir, and serving on numerous committees and boards. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with family and many friends.
Lois is survived by her son Gary (Bonnee Lauridsen) Harke, daughter Janice Harke, four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband Albert and son Glenn.
A memorial service will be held in The Grove at The Marquardt, 1045 Hill Street, Watertown, WI on June 20, 2026 at 1:30 p.m., with a time of fellowship and refreshment to follow. The Rev. Jane R. Gehler, Director of Spiritual Care at The Marquardt, will officiate. Burial at Sister Bay Moravian Cemetery in Sister Bay, WI will be held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Lois's honor to Illuminus Foundation, Inc. (2979 Triverton Pike Road, Fitchburg, WI 53711) would be appreciated.
The family especially would like to thank the staff of Park Terrace, Marquardt Health Center, and Common Heart Hospice for the care and compassion given to Lois.
