Joyce Radtke

March 17, 1926 — July 3, 2015

Joyce E. Radtke 89, of Watertown passed away on Friday, July 3, 2015 at Marquardt Health Center.
Joyce was born on March 17, 1926 in Junction City, WI the daughter of John and Pearl (Havitz) Martens. She was a 1943 graduate of Stevens Point Area High School and later graduated from Beautician School in Milwaukee. She worked as a beautician before marriage and always kept her promise to her mother to maintain her license. Joyce married Eugene Radtke on Nov. 23, 1950 at St. Bernard's Catholic Church.
During her married life she worked various jobs in the restaurant industry. She was also a long-time Avon and Amway salesperson and had many loyal customers. But the job she held in highest esteem was as a loving and devoted wife and mother. She was a dedicated parishioner of St. Bernard's Catholic Church of Watertown and lived her faith daily. Joyce enjoyed vacationing, cooking, storytelling, and was a diehard Green Bay Packer fan. She was a member of the Plattdeutscher Hall of Watertown, was a Cub Scout Den Mother, and rarely missed a parade especially her favorite, Watertown's Fourth of July parade. Above all other interests, she treasured her family and cherished time spent with her loved ones.
Joyce is survived by her five children Randy (Deborah) Radtke of Lake Mills, Dianna (Geof) Kaufmann of Clyman, Pearl (Brad) Wetterlin of Lakeville, MN, Thomas (Karen) Radtke of Watertown, and Paul (Sue) Radtke of Watertown. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Ann, Amanda, Jennifer, Andrew, Eric, Jason, Nathan, Kyera, Allie, Angela, and Hillary; 17 great-grandchildren; brother Don (Josie) Martens of Brentwood, TN, and sister Janis Tischendorf of Antigo. She is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters Rita, Donna, and JoAnn, and a grandson Matthew.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Bernard's Catholic Church would be appreciated.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2015 at St. Bernard's Catholic Church of Watertown with Fr. Patrick Wendler presiding. Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. Burial will be in the parish cemetery on Friday at 11 a.m.
