Joyce M. Matzinger 93, formerly of Johnson Creek, passed away on Thursday June 28, 2012 at the Golden Living Center in Watertown.
Joyce was born on Jan. 20, 1919 in Menomonee, MI the daughter of Andrew & Celestine (Brabant) Michelsen. She was a graduate of Iron Mountain, MI High School. She married Kenneth Matzinger on Sept. 11, 1939 in Hubbard Woods, IL. Joyce worked as a cook and waitress at many different restaurants and bakeries. She was a member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Johnson Creek. Joyce loved cooking, dancing and playing cards. She is a former member of the Watertown Senior Center.
Survivors include: 4 children C Norman (Betty) Matzinger of Johnson Creek, Emily (John) Hawkins of Kailua, HI, Lauri (Jana) Matzinger of Durham, NC and Earl (Colette) Matzinger of Milwaukee; 11 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Kenneth on Oct. 22, 1999, sister Eleanor and great granddaughter Alexis Beckstrom. Memorials to the Charity of One's Choice would be appreciated.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, on Friday July 6, 2012 at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Johnson Creek with Fr. David Wanish presiding. Visitation will be held on Friday 9:30 AM until the time of service at the church. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
