Joseph F. Govek, 84, of Waterloo passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at Marquardt Health Center with his family surrounding him.
Joseph was born on August 18, 1930 in Sheboygan, WI the son of Joseph and Josephine Govek. He married Josephine "Jo" on October 20, 1951 in Sheboygan and enjoyed 63 years together. He served our county in the Air Force from 1949 to 1963 after which time he was employed by the Wisconsin Cheeseman until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of Holy Family Parish in Waterloo. Joseph was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus and Ava Marie.
Survivors include: wife Josephine Govek of Waterloo; children Michael Govek of Minneapolis, MN, Tom Govek of San Diego, CA, Kathy (Gregg) Haupert of Madison, WI and Janel (Mark Walker) Govek of Neenah, WI; grandchildren David (Jen) Govek, Kiya Govek and Kagan Govek; brothers Richard (Dorie) of Grafton, WI and Paul (Ann) of Stillwater, OK; sister Ronnie (Ray) Schneider of Mequon, WI. He is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Joseph Robek; sister-in-law and spouse, Elsie and Earl Danciu.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at Holy Family Parish Waterloo from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A private family Mass will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Holy Family Parish School Endowment Fund, House of Peace (www.houseofpeacemilwaukee.org) or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
