Joanne E.(Plendl) Mahar, 81 of Watertown, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 7, 2014 at Hillside Manor Nursing Home of Beaver Dam.
Joanne was born on September 27, 1932 in Montello, WI to James and Marie (Arnes) Mahar. She married Ernest Plendl in 1956 and the couple had 6 children. Joanne worked as a Registered Nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital of Sioux City, IA and Watertown Memorial Hospital until her retirement in 1996. She was a member of Watertown Moravian Church and was very involved in the fundraising efforts at the Watertown Senior Center. She loved playing cards, working puzzles, reading and cats.
She is survived by: Children Lynn Plendl of Watertown, Richard Plendl of Sioux City, IA, Kevin Plendl of Watertown, and Eric Plendl of Milwaukee; Grandchildren Victoria, Adam, Tyler; Great-Granddaughter Joanna; Sisters Kathy (Gayle) Hopkins and Angela (Al) Urich; Brothers Theodor (Elaine) Gaul and Peter Gaul. Joanne is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by: her parents, ex-husband, Son David, and Daughter Patricia in infancy.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 16, 2014 at 4:00PM at Pederson-Nowatka Funeral Home of Watertown with Rev. Barbara Berg of Watertown Moravian Church presiding. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 3:00PM until the time of service. Burial will be at St. John the Baptist Cemetery of Montello, WI at a later date.
