Joan L. Showers

Joan L. Showers went to be with the Lord at sunrise on July 6, 2023. She had a great life and love for her family, she always had good words and thoughts for all.

Joan worked many years for Social Security as a secretary in Madison, WI. She had a great passion for aviation and flying, becoming a pilot and flying her own personal plane for 20 years, her second passion was for horses. Joan spent many of her years living in the Belleville-New Glarus area. She also enjoyed traveling and driving around in the RV with her husband Richard.

Joan is survived by her husband Richard, daughter Terry (Richard) Gehin, sister Kathleen Stokes, step-children Rick and Cindi Showers of Hillsboro, Linda and Garry Kopplin of Waterloo, and Diane (Clyde Laufenberg) Flynn of Waterloo. She is also survived by other relatives and friends.

Joan was very loved and certainly will forever be missed, thank you God for giving her to us all to share her life with us. She was such a sweet, loving, thoughtful, and forgiving person. We were blessed to have her be part of our lives.

A private family funeral will be held at the Pederson-Nowatka Funeral Home in Waterloo. Joan will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery in Waterloo.
