Watertown-Isabella "Issie" passed away peacefully on Sunday May 18, 2015.

Isabella Mantey (nee Nielsen) was born in Greenwood, Wisconsin on April 9, 1920, to Johannes and Anna Nielsen. After graduating from high school in Hartland, Wisconsin she attended the University of Wisconsin Madison on scholarship for one year. She enlisted in the U.S. Navel Reserve (Waves) during WWII, attaining the rank of Chief Storekeeper Dispersing in Washington, D.C.

Isabella married Harold L. Mantey on October 24th, 1945 in Hartland, Wisconsin. Isabella and Harold moved to Watertown in 1947 and lived there the remainder of their lives.

At Immanuel Lutheran Church she began her ministry to the Lord as a Sunday School teacher, followed by church secretary, financial secretary, as well as many other volunteer positions. She is being recognized this year for 50 years as an Associate In Ministry (AIM) of the ELCA Lutheran Church.

Isabella was an active volunteer not only at church, but also in the community. Volunteering at Watertown Memorial Hospital and Auxiliary, Church Women United, and Marquardt Manor was an important part of her later years.

Harold preceded her in death in June of 2001. She was also preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters. She is survived by their son, John (Mary Ann) Mantey of Racine; two granddaughters: Teresa O'Connor of San Francisco, CA and Maria Mantey (Nate Hinz) of Minneapolis, MN; four great -grandchildren: Zazie and Finn O'Connor, Caleb Hinz, and Hugo Mantey; by many nieces and nephews and one sister-in-law.

Family and friends are invited to meet at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Watertown on Friday May 22, 2015 for a visitation at 10:30AM - 11:30AM and a celebration of life service at 11:30AM. She will be to laid rest in Oak Cemetery next to her life-long partner.

Memorials may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church or the Marquardt Foundation.

John and Mary Ann Mantey sincerely thank the staff at Zinzendorf and the Marquardt Hospice Service for the loving and professional attention Issie received while under their care.
