Helen D. Bishofberger

Helen D. Bishofberger of Waterloo passed away on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at Wellington Meadows in Fort Atkinson.

Helen was born January 18, in Columbus, the daughter of Henry and Henrietta (Kurtz) Schrader. She married Frederic “Fritz” Bishofberger on February 14, 1954 at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church of Waterloo and the couple spent many happy years together until his passing in 1997. Helen worked for Wisconsin Porcelain of Sun Prairie for a number of years. She was an active member of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church, and was involved in various ladies groups there. Helen enjoyed corresponding with friends through cards, letters, and personal visits. She had a love for music, whether it was playing the piano or playing the trumpet for the Waterloo City Band.

Helen is survived by: her children Donald (Christine) Bishofberger of Fort Mill, SC, Ronald (Melany) Bishofberger of Fort Atkinson, and Constance Swiggard of Monticello, FL; grandchildren Rikki (Scott), Bobbi, Ezekiel, Megan (Alex), and Trevor (Lauren); great-grandchildren Jordan, Lane and Ryan. Helen is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Helen is preceded in death by her parents, husband Fritz, son John, and many beloved pets.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 16, 2023, at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church of Waterloo with Rev. Jim Adomeit presiding. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of service of the church. Helen will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery in Waterloo following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Helen’s name can be made to St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church or Waterloo Fire and EMS Supporters Inc.
