Greg W. Duckert

Greg W. Duckert, 69, of Waterloo, passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at his home.

Greg was born on February 22, 1956, in Columbus, the son of Robert and Lavon (Beitz) Duckert. He married the love of his life Sue Wolf on September 6, 1986, at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church and the couple enjoyed 33 years of marriage before her passing in 2019. Greg was a graduate of Waterloo High School and earned his Bachelor’s degree in business from UW Whitewater. He was a member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Waterloo for many years. He was a volunteer for the Waterloo Fire Department from 1983 to 2003, retiring as First Captain. In his free time he enjoyed bowling, baseball and softball, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, ATV riding, attending classic car shows with his 1978 Pontiac Trans Am, and being a member of the Waterloo Gun Club. Above all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and will be greatly missed by those who were blessed to have known him.

Greg is survived by his daughters: Ashley (Steve) Harris and Cassandra (Randy) Storbeck, grandson Ryatt Harris, granddaughter Juliana Storbeck, and two more granddaughters on the way, his mother Lavon, brother Gary (Gail) Duckert, and his sister Jane (Nick) Ellis. He is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father, wife Sue, and Grandson Clay in infancy, and sister Kathleen.

A Funeral Service for Greg will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Waterloo with Rev. James Adomeit presiding. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday, May 23, 2025, from 5:00-8:00pm and also on Saturday at the church from 11:00am until the time of service. Burial will follow the service on Saturday at Oak Hill Cemetery in Waterloo.
