Gordon Barnes

May 24, 1928 — April 30, 2014

Gordon K. Barnes, 85 of Watertown, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at Rainbow Hospice of Johnson Creek.
Gordon was born at home on May 24, 1928 in the Town of Fountain, WI to William H. and Annabelle (McLeod) Barnes. He was a 1946 graduate of New Lisbon High School and attended Northwestern College in Saint Paul, MN. On July 25, 1951, Gordon married Beverly Jean Rowe at Lone Rock Baptist Church outside New Lisbon, WI. During the Korean Conflict he served in the Air Force, stationed in Germany. Gordon was a hardworking dairy farmer and labored on the family farm, Senrab Farm, raising registered Guernsey cows with his brother Bill for the majority of his life. He loved his family, woodworking, writing, playing Scrabble, and discussing theology; but above all else he loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Gordon is survived by his loving wife Beverly; children Ken (Rachel) Barnes of Lakeland, FL, Pamela (Robert) Loggans of Watertown, WI, Laurel (Randy) Tanis of Chetek, WI, Eric (Sherryl) Barnes of Anderson, IN, Paul (Janean) Barnes of Watertown; 19 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters-in-law, Jane Rowe and Ruth Barnes; and brother-in-law Harold Niles. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Bonnie Niles, and brother Bill Barnes.
In lieu of flowers, donations to First Baptist Church of New Lisbon, VCY America, or Rainbow Hospice, would be appreciated.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM Sunday, May 4, 2014 at First Baptist Church of New Lisbon, WI with Pastors Robert Loggans and Randy Tanis presiding. Visitation will be Sunday from 3:00 PM until the time of service at the church. A private family burial service will take place.
