Gary Ward

May 16, 1951 — September 14, 2016

Gary Ernest Ward, 65, entered peacefully into the arms of the angels, surrounded by the love of his family on Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2016.
Gary was born, the youngest of seven children, on May 16, 1951 to Ernest and Sadie (Mitchell) Ward. He married Deborah Moungey in May 18, 1974. Her love and eternal friendship endures. Gary grew up and attended school in Waterloo and worked at Perry Printing for many years. After Perry Printing closed, he received his CDL and enjoyed trucking. He loved all animals, especially dogs, which was a trait handed down from his mother. His laugh and sparkling blue eyes would light every room that he entered. Although he never had any children, he had many nieces and nephews whom he loved very much, especially his nephew and best friend, Ron Zickert.
Survivors include: Sister Irene Dehling of Waterloo; Brothers DuWayne (LouAnn) of Lake Mills and Larry (Felina) of Sacramento, CA; he is further survived by his former wife and dear friend Deborah Moungey, best friend Jim "Smiley" Kuhlow, many nieces and nephews and his faithful dog and constant companion Drake. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters Shirley Ward, Ruth Anderson and Doris Zickert.
A memorial service will be held 11:00AM on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at the Pederson-Nowatka Funeral Home in Waterloo with Pastor Justin Spady of the Portage Seventh Day Adventist Church presiding. Visitation will be held on Wednesday at the funeral home from 10:00AM until the time of the service. Burial will be in the Washington Cemetery in the Town of Portland.
