Floyd Usher

January 26, 1924 — October 22, 2015

Floyd "Bud" W. Usher, 91 of Watertown, passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2015 at Rainbow Hospice Inpatient Center of Johnson Creek, surrounded by his family.
Floyd was born on January 26, 1924 in Watertown, WI the Son of Walter and Estella (Kehr) Usher. He was a 1942 Graduate of Watertown High School and later earned an Engineering Degree from the University of Wisconsin - Madison. On July 2, 1949, Floyd married his loving wife, Kathleen Winner in Madison and the couple enjoyed 66 years of marriage. He served his country during WWII as a Platoon Sergeant and was awarded 2 Bronze Stars and The Purple Heart for his selfless service and injuries sustained during combat. Floyd recognized God's Hand on his life during his war-time experience and considered himself lucky to be alive, as the sniper's bullet meant for his head, took off only the top of his ear.
For 18 years, he was employed as the Director of Public Works and City Engineer for the City of Watertown and the next 18 years were spent working as the Oconomowoc City Engineer. He was a member of the Elks Club, American Legion/VFW, an avid pheasant hunter, loved golf and as a young man excelled at speed skating on the Rock River. Above all other interests, Floyd was a devoted husband and father, always putting his faith and family first. He will be greatly missed.
Survivors include: his Wife Kathleen; Children Karen Gredler of La Crosse, Debra (Thomas Schroedl) Usher of Grafton, Timothy (Mary) Usher of New Glarus, and Gregory (Lupita) Usher of Oconomowoc; Grandchildren Emily, Michael, Katie (Josh), Evan, Luis, Andrea, and Jacob; Great-Grandchildren Odin and Oliver. He is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and Brothers Jack and Kenneth.
Memorials in Floyd's honor to St. Jerome Catholic Church of Oconomowoc or St. Bernard's Catholic Church of Watertown would be appreciated.
