Emerald G. “Emmy” Dowling, 21 of Waterloo, passed away on September 3, 2026, with her family by her side.
Emerald, born in Maryland on February 6, 2005, was a loving daughter to John and Tammy Dowling. She was the granddaughter to Mary Rusell. Emerald had five siblings: Jade Dowling, Samantha Dowling, Alex Webb, Ronnie Bunch, and Ryan Bunch. She was an aunt to 2 kids, all of which she loved very much. She tried her best to help take care of and play with four dogs, one cat, and play with a ferret and gecko. She also had two neighbors she considers as her aunt and uncle: Michelle and Dana Kamp.
She loved to spend time with her family. Her favorite game to play with them is Thirteen. When she wasn’t spending time with family, she could be seen playing video games, reading, or coloring. Emerald’s favorite game to play was Overwatch 2. Her favorite book series is Five Nights at Freddy’s, which was also her favorite game series.
While Emerald was alive, she was dealing with a few autoimmune disorders, the main one being progressive systemic sclerosis, aka scleroderma. It had affected her day-to-day living so much she had to use tools to help her with almost everything. This disability has also affected her internal organs as well as thickening and tightening her skin. The way she had to combat this disability was to take her meds and do her exercises. Unfortunately, scleroderma needs more research done in order to prevent more deaths caused by scleroderma from happening.
This obituary was written by Emerald Grace Dowling with all her love.
A Celebration of Emerald’s Life will be held starting at 3:00 PM on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Ted Pin Alley.
