Doris Scheel

Doris A. Scheel, 72 of Reeseville passed away on November 25, 2017 at her home.

Dory was born on June 10, 1945 in Columbus, Wisconsin the daughter of Paul & Laura (Benninger) Hafenstein. On April 27, 1968, Dory married the love of her life Gary Scheel in Cambridge, Wisconsin. The couple was blessed with two loving sons, Paul and Ryan. The family farmed in Portland for more than 40 years. Dory was a hard worker. She worked in the postal industry and at the family farm in Portland for many years. Even when the family moved off the farm, she kept her yard weed free and well groomed. Dory loved animals; she always kept the calves on the farm well taken care of as well as her dogs. She also enjoyed going to Badger football games with her husband for the last 15 years. Dory loved cooking meals for her family. The boys say that she would grumble about it, but loved to keep them well fed, and may have enjoyed the grumbling as well. She was a wonderful wife, mom and grandma. She will be dearly missed.

Dory is survived by: her husband Gary; her two sons, Paul and Ryan; her grandson, Everett Butzine; her siblings, Delores Topel and Robert (Mary Ann) Hafenstein. She is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, relatives, and many friends.

She is preceded in death by: her parents, and two brothers Harold Winter and Jerry Hafenstein.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Waterloo at 11:00AM with the Rev. Robert Kosky Jr presiding. A visitation will be held on the day of service from 9:00AM until the time of service at the church.  Burial will be in Washington Cemetery in the Town of Portland immediately following the service.
