Donald G. Bonack, 87, of Waterloo, passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at Columbus Health and Rehab.
Don was born on September 12, 1936, the son of Robert and Clara (Bauer) Bonack. He married the love of his life Donna Grover on May 18, 1963, in Stevens Point and the couple enjoyed 60 years of marriage. Don proudly served our country for many years in the United States Army; he then worked for over 40 years at Perry Printing in Waterloo. In his free time he was a fantastic woodworker, he was a perfectionist that took pride in the work that he did, he was a jack of all trades and could fix anything. He enjoyed taking trips up north to the family cabin where he would hunt and fish. More recently, Don and Donna enjoyed going to shows at the Fireside Theatre. Above all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and will be dearly missed by all who were blessed to have known him.
Don is survived by his wife Donna, son Todd (Shirley) Bonack, and daughter Betsy Ebert. Two grandchildren Josh and Adam Walker, three great-grandchildren Adam, Paige, and Russell, and his sister Gloria Zak. He is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and 5 siblings: Arlene, Hugo, LaVerne, Carol, and Warren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at Holy Family Parish in Waterloo with Fr. Vince Brewer presiding. Visitation will take place at the church from 9:00am until the time of service. Burial with full military honors will follow the service at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Waterloo.
