Don Jones

Don M. Jones, 81 of Watertown passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at his home.

Don was born on March 4, 1938 in Watertown the son of Burr and Irma (Kasten) Jones. He married the love of his life Frances Griep on September 1, 1962 at St. Henry’s Catholic Church and the couple enjoyed 57 years of marriage. Don went to Watertown High school and was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1961 and proudly served our country for two years in Fort Riley before serving in the Army Reserves until September 30, 1967. Don worked at Lindberg Heavy Duty Electric Company, in 1966 he was an owner operator semi-truck driver, and he worked at Wis-Pak in Watertown until his retirement in 2007. Don enjoyed driving a taxi; he drove for Watertown Taxi until July 30, 2019. Above all Don enjoyed being with his family and friends, and will be dearly missed by those who knew him.

Don is survived by his wife Frances, two children Scott (Michelle) Jones and Susan Willing. Grandchildren: Amanda (Justin) Magsamen; Tiffany (Timothy) Jaquith; and Cassandra Jones. He is also survived by a number of other relatives, friends, and his beloved animals Riley, Belle, and Cash.  He is preceded in death by his parents and sister.

A funeral service for Don will be held at 11:00am on Friday, October 4, 2019 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Watertown with Rev. Rod Warnecke presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:00am until the time of service. Burial will follow the service at Lutheran Cemetery in Watertown.
