Diana M. Carl

Mrs. Diana M. (Dean) Carl, age 78 of 1509 Utah Street, Watertown, Wisconsin passed away of heart complications early Tuesday 8 August 2023 at Froedtert Hospital Milwaukee. She was surrounded by her husband, Maynard Carl, three children, Rebecca Usakowski (David), Matthew Carl, Maynard Carl ll, and a granddaughter Rachael Carl.

Diana M. (Dean) Carl was born on 2 August 1945 in Morrison, Whiteside county, Illinois to the parents Clifford and Catherine (Lyons) Dean of 104 S. Cherry Street, Morrison. Diana was a graduate of Morrison High School Class of 1964 with a focus in secretarial studies. She was employed at the Maurits & Jost Insurance Office in Morrison as a secretary until her marriage to Mr. Maynard Carl of BelAir, Maryland, a Second-Class Petty Officer in the US Navy. She also worked at the BelAir Maryland radio Station, WVOB, training to be the news & weather reader while her husband was at sea. Diana was an active member of her home church in Morrison, in churches as they moved around the country while in the Navy and throughout her life. She also served faithfully with her husband at Youth Camp Highview Acres in Bellbrook, Ohio; Camp Manitoumi, Low Point Illinois and Mississippi Valley Christian School in Alton, Illinois, before moving to Watertown in August 1990. Diana earned an associate's degree in early childhood at Maranatha Baptist College. Diana, as a young person collected post cards, was an avid reader, an excellent proof- reader and a fast typist. She also did childcare in several places she lived. In addition, she loved camping and sightseeing along with doing things to help people especially making get-well and sympathy cards for sick and hurting people of her church, River Valley Alliance Church in Watertown.

Diana Carl is survived by one Brother Gary and Louise Dean of Cameron, Missouri; her husband Maynard Carl; three children: Rebecca Usakowski (David) of Summit, Ill; Matthew and Sarah (Sprecher) Carl of West Allis; Maynard and Sarah (Peterson) Carl of Watertown and Maralynn Crouse and Joe of Leonardtown, Maryland. She is further survived by twelve grandchildren and many relatives and Friends.

Diana is preceded in death by her parents Clifford and Catherine Dean, Uncle LaVern Dean, a step-mother Christine Dean, a son Michael Carl and other relatives.

Viewing will be held on Saturday 19 August 2023 from 10 am until 11am. The memorial service will follow at 11am At River Valley Alliance Church 610 Welsh Road, Watertown with pastors David Zimmermann and Caleb Atkins presiding. Interment will occur later in the afternoon at Oak Hill Cemetery.
