Delores E. McGovern, 84 of Waterloo, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 14, 2016 at Watertown Regional Medical Center.
Delores was born on August 26, 1932 in the Town of Portland, the daughter of Minor and Alma (Gehrke) Haseleu. Delores was the 6th of the family's 12 children. She earned an 8th grade education and later in life attended classes at MATC in Watertown and received her GED in her mid 40's. On December 17, 1967, she married Donald McGovern at St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Marshall. Delores worked stitching shoes at the Waterloo Shoe Factory for many years, worked at Farmer's and Merchants Bank, and enjoyed fuctioned as Librarian at the Waterloo Public Library. Delores especially enjoyed the library because she took much pleasure in reading and was a talented writer. She was a long-time member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Waterloo. Her family describes her as "the best mom and wife anyone could ask for". She loved being outdoors and was a dedicated walker. Delores and Donald took many car trips up-north, enjoying the fall colors. Above all other interests, Delores cherished time spent with family and her cat, Mittens. She will be dearly missed.
She is survived: her loving Husband Donald of Waterloo; Children Deborah Moungey, John (Tammy) Moungey, Gary Moungey, Rachel (Bill) Lasiewicz, and Dixie (Todd) Brumm; Grandchildren Brooke, Josh, Jason, Amanda, Fawn, Michael, Dan, Jake, Joseph, Lauren, Jesse, Dakota, Derek, and Zach; Great-Grandchildren Lilly, Mia, Kaelyn, Kaison, Leiana, and Lilliana; Sisters Gloria Calkins, Shirley Stark, and Geraldine Heling; Brothers Gordon (Phyllis) Haseleu, Donald (Judy) Haseleu, and Richard Haseleu. Delores is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents and 5 of her siblings.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Eastman and the Staff of the UW Cancer Center of Johnson Creek for the loving and dedicated care provided. Also, to the staff of Watertown Regional Medical Center and the Waterloo Rescue EMS.
A funeral service will held at 11:00AM on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Waterloo with Rev. Robb Kosky presiding. Visitation will be held from 9:00AM until the time of service at the church. Burial will follow the service at Washington Cemetery in the Town of Portland.
