Deanna Jean Deppe

February 14, 1939 – June 25, 2026

Deanna Jean Deppe, 87, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on February 14, 1939, in Watertown, Wisconsin, Deanna was the beloved daughter of Harold and Gertrude (Mankowski) Grunewald. She married the love of her life, Victor Deppe, on August 6, 1955, beginning a marriage filled with love, laughter, and family. They settled down to raise a family in Portland, WI. Deanna’s strong work ethic was evident throughout her life. She worked for 15 years at Lackas General Store in Portland before beginning a 35-year career at Van Holten’s. After retiring, she enjoyed working alongside her son, David, at Deppe’s Awards Plus.

In her younger years, Deanna was an accomplished accordion player and proudly served as a majorette for her high school marching band. As a child, her family moved to Hubbleton, Wisconsin, that has always held a special place in her heart. Her parents owned Harold's Bar, which also served as a lively dance hall where the community gathered for music, polka, and weekly euchre nights. It was there that Deanna developed her love of music, fun, and the close-knit community that shaped so much of her life. She also enjoyed taking her younger brother, Richard, to the movies and spending time walking around Watertown with her friends, creating memories she fondly carried with her throughout the years.

Family was always at the center of Deanna’s life. She and Victor cherished countless weekends at their property in Arbor Vitae, where they created treasured memories with their six grandchildren. What began as a favorite getaway eventually became the place they called home in retirement. Deanna loved the beauty of the Northwoods, especially the snow. She embraced retirement and spent time with her granddaughter Alicia and other family by hitting Friday night fish fries, bar hopping and cheering on the Green Bay Packers—although if the game was too close, she’d often have to leave the room until it was over. Deanna was known for her love of shopping and clipping coupons. She enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. One of the highlights of every week was gathering with friends each Wednesday at The Duck Inn for “Ducko,” where laughter and friendship were always on the menu. More than anything, Deanna will be remembered for her love of family, her practical nature, her sense of fun, and the countless memories she created with those she loved. Her legacy lives on in the traditions she began, the stories she leaves behind, and the family who will forever cherish her.

She is survived by her daughter Tammy McIntosh, her grandchildren Joshua (Courtney) Deppe, Jessica (Joe) Jaehnke, Melanie (Otto) Degler, Brodie (Jessica) McIntosh, Trevor (Sarah) Deppe, and Alicia Deppe. Her great-grandchildren: Ava and Ryder Jaehnke, Parker, Avery, and Spencer Degler, Rhys, Quinley, Braelyn Deppe, Louie Deppe, and Colter McIntosh. Her brother Richard (Kathy) Grunewald, her daughter-in-law- Donna (Bill Hubacher) Deppe and many other loving family members and the friends that also considered her their “Grandma D”.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Victor, her sons David and Michael Deppe, her parents, Harold and Gertrude Grunewald, her half-brothers Hank and Kenny Schaller, and her father-in-law Louis Deppe and mother-in-law Ellen Deppe.

Visitation and funeral services will be held on Friday July 10, 2026, with a visitation from 1-4 and a short service at 4pm at Pederson-Nowatka Funeral Home. A celebration of Deanna’s life will follow at the Hubbleton Brewing Taproom and Grill in Hubbleton.
