David L. Zastrow, 92, of Waterloo, passed away on Friday, November 24, 2023 at Watertown Regional Medical Center.
David was born on June 25, 1931, in Wisconsin, the son of Berdice (White) Zastrow. He married the love of his life Jeanne Janisch on April 10, 1954 and the couple enjoyed 67 years of marriage before her passing in 2021. David graduated from Waterloo High School in 1949, where he was class president. He was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Waterloo participating in many of their activities. David worked for many years at Artcraft Press starting in 1950, until 1968, when he started working at Perry Printing as a customer service representative in 1968 until his retirement in 2000. He proudly served in the National Guard for a few years. David was the coordinator of the Marshall/Waterloo food pantry since its inception in November 1992 until finishing in 2014. In his free time he enjoyed playing in the Waterloo City Band, going to auctions, collecting antiques, and working on the extensive landscape around the yard. Above all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his son Kevin Zastrow and brother-in-law David (Carole) Janisch. He is also survived by many friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and wife Jeanne.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2023 at 11:00am at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Waterloo with Rev. Bob Moberg presiding.
