Catherine A. Kwapil, 80 of Watertown, passed away on Monday, December 19, 2022, at Rainbow Hospice Inpatient Center of Johnson Creek.
Catherine was born November 17, 1942, in Sheboygan Falls, the daughter of Raymond and Cyrilla (Janssen) Danks. On June 3, 1967, she married William Kwapil Jr. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sheboygan Falls and the couple shared 49 years together until his death in 2016. Catherine was a long-time member of St. Bernard’s Church of Watertown.
Cathy’s light shined bright here on earth for the past 80 years. On December 19th, 2022, her light moved into the heavens and into the hearts of all who knew her.
Cathy was not only a light, but a force to be reckoned with, anyone that knew her can attest to that. She was intelligent, strong and talented in many ways. More importantly, she was kindhearted and exceptionally generous.
Most of all, she loved with great passion. That love was the thing that carried her for her last two years as she battled cancer, and certainly during the time she was in hospice, saying her final good-byes. Cathy’s heart and mind remained focused on her love of family and friends, even as her body failed her. Thankfully, Cathy is no longer in pain, and she will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her, through countless fond memories.
Cathy’s spirit will be seen, most of all, in Laura, Grace, Molly, and James as they continue to grow, holding close the light, love and lessons that their grandma has so graciously and lovingly shared with them.
Catherine is survived by: her children Kelly (Jennifer) Kwapil of Watertown, and Karla (Julianna) Kwapil; grandchildren Molly, Grace, Laura, and James; and brother Robert (Laurie) Danks. Catherine is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Catherine is preceded in death by her parents, husband William Kwapil Jr., and brother James Danks.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 2, 2023, at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church of Watertown with Fr. Wanta presiding. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until the time of service at the church. Catherine will be laid to rest at St. Bernard’s Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Catherine’s name be made to Rainbow Hospice Care or St. Bernard’s Catholic Church.
