Caryn A. Schmitt

Caryn A. “Carrie” Schmitt, 63 of Waterloo, passed away on Monday, May 26, 2025, at Victory Visions of Waterloo.

Carrie was born on July 21, 1961, in Wisconsin, the daughter of Raymond and Nancy (Schmoldt) Schmitt.

She has lived in this area from birth. She was a graduate of Lake Mills High School. Enjoyed going for walks to get to where she needed to go. She enjoyed many friends along her journey in life. Along with that, always reached back in the past to contact old friends. Also did the same with relatives along her life journey. She loved spending time with her daughter. She was the center of her life.

Carrie is survived by: her daughter Cassandra; siblings Dan (Susan) Schmitt and Colleen (Neal) Shade; nieces and nephews Tera (Mike) Cuthrell, Courtney (Joel) Barlow, Carley (Riley) Ferguson, and MacKenzie Shade; great-nieces and nephews Emerson Barlow, Zoe Cuthrell, Ella Cuthrell, Lucy Cuthrell, Ivey Cuthrell, and Reed Cuthrell. Carrie is also survived by other relatives and many friends.

Carrie is preceded in death by her parents.

A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 PM on Monday, June 2, 2025, at the Pederson-Nowatka Funeral Home of Waterloo with Rev. Tim Knipfer presiding. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home. Carrie will be laid to rest at Glenview Memorial Gardens following the service.
