Beth S. Haseleu

April 18, 1956 — April 7, 2024

Portland

Beth Susanne Haseleu, 67, of Waterloo, passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2024, at home surrounded by her family, after a long battle with cancer.

Beth was born on April 18, 1956, in Columbus, WI. She was the daughter of Harris and Beverly (Erickson) Weber. She graduated from Waterloo High School in 1974. Beth married her high school sweetheart, Robert Haseleu, on October 12, 1974. Beth worked at Avestar Credit Union (formerly Perry Credit Union) for 35 years and held the position of Vice President for much of that time.

Beth is survived by her husband, Bobby, their daughters Mindy Haseleu (Justin Calvert) and Teppy (Vance) McCaw, their two grandchildren Rowan and Lane, her siblings Sanja (Tom) Geise, Denise (Steve) Soldner and Matt (Michele) Weber, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Beth is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Dean, her nephew Brandon Wilke & her son-in-law Justin Calvert.

Beth & Bobby enjoyed nearly 50 years of marriage. Their shared hobbies were auctions, flea markets, antiquing, enjoying their dream home and land, Sunday dinners with family, along with many other things. She spent many years volunteering for various community events and organizations. Beth took a tremendous amount of pride in her position at the credit union and the service she was able to offer all its members. She was a fantastic cook and loved feeding everyone.

Beth loved to travel, explore new places and experience new things. Her sense of adventure and love of nature took her on many hunting trips that always resulted in fantastic stories, which she loved to retell. From group drives with her uncles, cousins and nephews on opening day of deer season, to a thunderstorm on top of a mountain in Montana, being surrounded by mountain lions while sitting in a tree stand in New Mexico, tracking a wounded bear at night with nothing but a flashlight, chasing bull elk on foot in Colorado, an all-girls’ African bow hunt, or just a local Spring turkey hunt (her favorite), Beth did it all. One of her happiest nature experiences was a rare opportunity to watch a pair of whooping cranes dance in the field behind their house. She was very proud of her experiences and accomplishments.

It’s difficult to find words to convey all that Beth was because she was such a special person. The best wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend anyone could hope for. She was patient, helpful and eager to care for others and teach what she knew. She had endless energy and a great sense of humor.  She had a deep appreciation for nature and animals. She was strong and gentle, hard-working and fun, optimistic and practical. Always supportive and encouraging. Always happy for the success and joy of others. She found and celebrated the best things in life and persevered through the worst. Above all, she was exceptionally kind, warm, and loving. She was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.

A celebration of life will be held from 3:00-8:00pm on Friday, May 17, 2024, at the Waterloo Fireman’s Park Pavilion.
