Barbara “Barb” Jean Anderson, born December 5, 1960, in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, to Donald and Agnes Anderson, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2026, at 3:07 a.m., after a courageous 10-year battle with cancer. Barb fought the good fight every single day and never allowed cancer to take away her light, her humor, or her love for the people around her.
Barb grew up in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin and graduated from Beaver Dam High School. After high school, she began what would become a long and dedicated career with Shopko Pharmacy and Optical. Barb took great pride in her work and was known as a dedicated employee who cared deeply about her coworkers and the people she served. To Barb, work was never just a job—it was an opportunity to brighten someone’s day with a smile, a conversation, or one of her many stories. After Shopko, Barb continued her career at WPS before eventually finishing her working years at SSM Health. Wherever she worked, Barb formed lasting friendships and brought warmth, humor, and kindness to those around her.
In 2003, life brought her something even more special. Barb met the love of her life, Paul Mohrmann, on a mission trip to Atlanta where Paul happened to be the bus driver. The two met when they needed each other most, and the rest is history. Together they shared 23 wonderful years filled with love, laughter, faith, and many adventures. She and Paul shared many cherished memories traveling to Door County and making trips to spend time with family.
Barb embraced being part of a big family and knew it was a privilege to help raise Paul’s four daughters. She understood the role of a stepmom and respected that the girls had their own mom, and she felt grateful simply to be part of their lives in whatever way she could. While life with “a man and four girls” certainly had its challenges, Barb gave her heart to the role and loved the life they built together. Above all, her greatest joy was building a life side by side with Paul and sharing in the love of their family.
One of Barb’s greatest joy in life was her grandsons, Emmitt and Easton. She loved watching them play sports, cheering them on, having them over to the house, and making sure they were well fed—sometimes even with snacks at 7:00 in the morning. Being their grandma brought her endless pride and happiness.
Barb also had a special love for her cats, Bob and Putster. They were constant companions in her life and brought her comfort and joy. She loved caring for them, and they meant the world to her. Barb loved life and the simple things that made it special. Whether it was a Monday night Chip Draw at the Fox or bonfires in the driveway with her friends and neighbors, she enjoyed every minute of it. She enjoyed going to craft shows and inevitably bringing home something new to decorate the house. Thursdays were reserved for one of her favorite traditions—“Coke and Joke” nights with her closest girlfriends. Those evenings filled with laughter and friendship meant the world to her. Barb had a quick wit, a sharp mind, and a gift for listening to others. She loved to laugh and made it easy for others to laugh with her. Her kindness, generosity, and love for her friends and community were evident in everything she did. Barb would do almost anything for anyone, and her presence had a way of making people feel welcome and valued. Her faith was also an important part of her life. Barb had a strong and deeply rooted relationship with God and lived her life with faith, dedication, and compassion for others.
For ten long years, Barb battled cancer with incredible strength and determination. Even on the hardest days, she continued to live with joy, gratitude, and a desire to make others smile. Cancer is not fair and does not care who it touches, but Barb faced it with courage and grace until the very end.
Barb is survived by her loving husband, Paul Mohrmann; her stepchildren Jen Kaul (Logan), Steph Daniels (Adam, Emmitt and Easton), Rachel Mohrmann (Mikala Turner), and Nikki Niesen (David); her brother Jim Anderson (Kim); her niece Ashley (Eric) and great-nephew Colton; and her nephew Jason Anderson (Abbey Tierney); her brother Bill Anderson (Anita) and many dear friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, aunts and uncles. Barb will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her generous heart, her laughter, and the love she shared with her family and friends. Her passion for life and her ability to make people smile will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses, and medical staff at SSM Health St. Mary’s for the compassionate care they provided. Their kindness and dedication during Barb’s final days meant so much to our family and helped make the hardest days a little easier.
A funeral service for Barb will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026. Visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with the service beginning at 12:00 p.m. at Holy Trinity Church in Marshall, Wisconsin.
