August Thomas Granzig

August “Augie” T. Granzig, age 56, of Waterloo, passed away on June 20, 2024, at his home.

Augie was born on November 4, 1967, in Chicago, the son of August and Diane (Chibici) Granzig. On June 24, 1995, Augie married Katherine Zizzo in Las Vegas, NV, and the couple was blessed with one son, August Joseph “A.J.” After attending trade school, Augie began working in the HVAC field and owned his own business. In his youth, Augie played the drums in a band in Chicago until he broke his knee. In his spare time, he was an avid fisherman and always had his canine companions, Thor and Loki, nearby. Above all else, Augie treasured time spent with his family and friends.

Augie is survived by his loving wife Kathy; beloved son A.J.; mother Diane (Chibici) Granzig; uncle Mickey Chibici; mother-in-law Maureen Bothwell; father-in-law John Zizzo; sister-in-law Maureen (Joe) Morsello; sister-in-law Michele (Cris) Rodriguez; brother-in-law Norman (Laura) Bothwell; sister-in-law Paula (Gaston) Navarro; many nieces and nephews; best friend Forrest (Ann) Lindsey; and faithful companions Thor and Loki. Augie is also survived by many other relatives and friends.

Augie was preceded in death by his father August Granzig; uncle Eddie Rossa; grandparents; and father-in-law Rod Bothwell.
