Sidney L. Cox 98, of Watertown passed away on Thursday March 29, 2018 at Agrace Inpatient Center in Janesville.
Sid was born on Dec. 18, 1919 the son of Clarence and Adaline (Earp) Cox. He served as a staff Sargent in the US Army during WWII with the Red Arrow 32nd Division in the New Guinea Campaign. Sid married the love of his life Margaret Smith at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Randolph on Aug. 2, 1944. The two enjoyed 73 wonderful years together. Sid was a Jeweler by trade. He owned and operated Showcase Jewelers for over 40 years and Wishing Well Hallmark for 20 years both in Whitewater. Sid was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and was an active member of his congregations. He enjoyed golf, traveling, exercising and was known as an athlete in his younger years. Sid was also known to be a patient, gentle, generous and compassionate man. Above all he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include: Wife Margaret of Milton; Children; Mary (Ted) Farberg of Janesville, Daniel (Patricia) of Gallatin Gateway MT, John (Joanne) of Waukesha, Joan (John) Feilbach of Watertown; Six Grandchildren Jason, Mark (Shelby), Adam (Nichole), Elizabeth (Eric), Matthew and Megan; 5 Great Grandchildren Brooklyn, Addison, Aaron, Gavin and Easton; sister Betty Draheim of Randolph. He is also survived by a special family friend Trisch Bass, a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives. He is preceded in death by his parents, son David and a number of brothers and sisters.
A private family Mass will be held at St. Henry Catholic Church with Fr. Patrick Wendler presiding. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery.
