Arno Q. Weniger, Jr.

February 1, 1936 ~ September 9, 2018 (age 82)

Dr. Arno Q.  Weniger Jr. (also known as Doc, Bud, Pastor, Dad, Papa), 82, of Peoria, Illinois, formerly of Clearwater, Florida, Watertown, Wisconsin and Normal, Illinois, passed away Sunday, September 9, 2018 at Manor Court at Liberty Village in Peoria, Illinois. 

He was born on February 1, 1936 in Salem, Oregon to Arno Q. and Mable L. (Holtz) Weniger Sr. He married Marilyn Hilsen in Minnetonka, Minnesota.  She preceded him in death on June 20, 1992 in Watertown, Wisconsin.  He was also preceded in death by one sister.

Surviving are three children, Cheryl (Mike) Shellman of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Timothy (Kristie) Weniger of Edwards, Illinois and Gregory (Tammy) Weniger of Acworth, Georgia; He was Papa to 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

He served as College President for 15 years from 1983 to 1998 at the Maranatha Baptist Bible College in Watertown, Wisconsin.  He previously was a pastor at First Baptist Church in International Falls, Minnesota from 1960 to 1965 and the Calvary Baptist Church in Normal, Illinois from 1965 to 1983. He likewise served several years at the Clearwater Christian College in Clearwater, Florida. 

Dr. Weniger helped pioneer and form the American Association of Christian Schools, colleges and seminaries and Illinois Association of Christian Schools.  He was also a board member of the Baptist World Mission and the Fundamental Baptist Fellowship.  He attended the Living Hope Community Church in Bartonville, Illinois. 

Local funeral services will be at 6:00 pm Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at the Davison Fulton Bartonville Chapel.  The Pastor Art Georges will officiate.  Visitation will be from 4 pm until 6 pm on Wednesday at the funeral chapel. 

Additional funeral services will be at 11:00 am Friday, September 14, 2018 at the Calvary Baptist Church in Watertown, Wisconsin. Pastor Bob Loggans will officiate.  Visitation will be at the church on Friday from 9:30 am until 11:00 am.  Burial will be next to his loving wife, Marilyn, at the Ebenezer Moravian Church Cemetery in Watertown, Wisconsin.  Memorials may be made to the Marilyn Hilsen Weniger Scholarship Fund at Maranatha Baptist University.
