Obituary for Roger Holzhueter

Roger Holzhueter
Roger William Holzhueter, 81, of Waterloo, died on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at home in Soldiers Grove, WI with family by his side.

Roger was born on April 2, 1936, son of William and Isabella Holzhueter.

He married Eileen “Petey” Virchow on July 10, 1954. Roger and Petey were married for 53 years.
Roger worked at McKay Nursery for a few years before joining Perry Printing Corporation where he spent 33 years. During that time he also drove bus for the Waterloo School System. After retiring from Perry Printing, he drove truck for Sheehy Mail Contractors of Waterloo until he was 75.

Roger was a very active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. He had a love for the road and spent many years driving truck for his Dad, McKay’s, Perry Printing and Sheehy’s. He was a seven year member of the Wisconsin National Guard and was a volunteer member of the Waterloo Fire Department. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Cambridge Country Club. He loved spending time with his family and friends telling stories from the past and going out for Friday night fish fries.

He is survived by three daughters, Robin (Mike) Schmid of Marshall, Tara (Mark Udelhoven) Sheehy of Soldiers Grove and Traci (Mike) Beyer of Waterloo and two sisters, Lorraine Detert of Watertown and Keri (Mike) Radloff of Waterloo. He has six grandchildren, Nathan (April) Schmid of Marshall, Melissa (Brian) Logan of Marshall, Jonathan Sheehy of Sun Prairie, Mathew Sheehy of Sun Prairie, Jeremy (Jenny) Ellis of Waterloo and Jacqui (Nate) Huebner of Reeseville. He has eight great grandchildren, Easton, Cabella and Reed Ellis, Blake, Brenna and Bryn Huebner and Landon and Makenzie Logan.

Roger was preceded in death by his wife Petey, his parents William and Isabella Holzhueter, two sisters, Donna Rollert and Bonnie Licata and his step mother, Betty Farnum Holzhueter.

The family would like to thank Robert Kosky Jr. and St. Paul’s Churh for their prayers, cards and continued support, Bland Bekkadal Center for Hospice Care in Viroqua, WI and all of our friends who have been so caring and supportive during Roger’s illness.

Visitation will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Waterloo on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 from 9:00a.m. until the time of funeral service at 11:00a.m. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Waterloo, with a luncheon to follow at St. Paul’s Church.

Roger will be remembered by many and missed by all.
